Songwriters Showcase

Songwriters Showcase is a unique monthly concert series held at The Gibson Centre for Community, Arts & Culture. (http://www.gibsoncentre.com/) in Alliston, On. This is a show that celebrates and is devoted to the art and craft of songwriting.

Founder and host George Scott welcomes premier singer songwriters from across Ontario and beyond. Whether it is stories of the road or tales of lost love, you'll be entranced by the pure honesty and passion portrayed through these original songs.

A Labour of Love …

Songwriters Showcase is a performance committed completely to the singer and the song. Two guest feature artists join George in an intimate and acoustic setting on the first Sunday afternoon of each month. Each singer performs their original compositions in a rotation format. The show runs from 2:00 to 4:00 including an intermission where guests can find refreshments at the licensed Gibson Centre café and perhaps purchase our feature artist's CD's.

Admission is only $10, with half of all ticket proceeds contributed to CLASS (Community Living of South Simcoe) http://www.class.on.ca/, an organization devoted to assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities. Performers give their time free of charge to help raise funds for this worthy cause.

Past guests include some of the great names in Canadian songwriting circles; Tannis Slimmon, Laura Bird, Jon Brooks, Don Bray, Mo Kauffey, Allister Bradley, Eve Goldberg, Douglas Jon Cameron, Marianne Girard among many others.

About the Gibson …

The Gibson Centre is an 1889 heritage building that began its life as a factory. Located at 63 Tupper St. W., Alliston, it has been transformed into a thriving centre for community, arts and culture. It offers a performance hall, art gallery, licensed café, studio spaces and banquet facilities.
